All Models are False

But Some are Useful

Notes

Evolution also suffers from modeling issues, too - and sometimes I think it's those issues, rather than religious concerns, that cause a lot of the difficulty that people have with evolution. The Platonic model of species seems so natural, that it prevents people from understanding what Darwin said about species - that variation is central, and the “ideal” of a species is an emergent property. Once that's understood, the rest is easy.
